At New Orleans:
Brett Baer, who had missed two extra points and had a 46-yard field goal wiped out by a false-start penalty, connected on a game-winning 50-yarder as time expired on Saturday night as the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns (9-4) defeated the San Diego State Aztecs (8-5) 30-29 in the New Orleans Bowl. It was the Cajuns' first bowl appearance in the top level of college football.
Cajuns' quarterback Blaine Gautier threw for 470 yards and three touchdowns.
