At Corvallis, Oregon:
Markus Wheaton made 12 receptions for 123 yards and a touchdown as the Oregon State Beavers (#15 in the Bowl Championship Series standings, #16 in the Associated Press media poll, and #17 in the USA Today/Coaches rankings; 9-3), who piled up 683 yards of total offense, set a single-game school scoring record as they destroyed Nicholls State, an FCS school from Thibodeaux, Louisiana (1-10), 77-3 on Saturday.
The contest was originally scheduled to be the season opener for both teams on September 1, but Hurricane Isaac bore down on the Colonels' Louisiana campus.
Saturday's game was the regular-season finale for both schools.
The Beavers, who reversed last year's 3-9 campaign, are likely to play in a bowl game later this month.
