Hall of Fame defensive end Lee Roy Selmon passed away on Sunday, two days after having suffered a massive stroke at the age of 56.
Mr. Selmon was the first collegiate player ever selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, chosen with the first overall selection of the 1976 National Football League draft, this following an outstanding career at Oklahoma.
In Lee Roy's nine NFL seasons, all with the Buccaneers, he had 78 1/2 sacks and was selected to six consecutive Pro Bowls. He retired following the 1984 season.

Bayou Bengals Take Bite Out Of Ducks In Arlington

Quarterback Jarrett Lee, who played in place of the suspended Jordan Jefferson, threw for a touchdown while #4 (both in the Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches polls) Louisiana State took out #3 (both polls) Oregon 40-27 on Saturday night in the Cowboys' Classic, the regular-season opener for both teams. Half of the Tigers' points came from converting three of the Ducks' turnovers into points.

Quarterback Jeff Fleming completed 22 of 35 passes for 257 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-tying score in overtime to Brandyn Reed, who then tacked on the game-winning two-point conversion as Sacramento State, a member of the Big Sky Conference (FCS) knocked off Oregon State 29-28 on the road in the season opener for both schools. It was the Beavers' first home-opening defeat in 10 years.
