NCAA Southeast: Gators End Season For Jimmer, Cougars
The semifinal round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's Southeast Region took place on Thursday at New Orleans.
In the opener at the New Orleans Arena, Alex Tyus scored 19 points (and pulled down 17 rebounds) to lead a balanced attack that offset Jimmer Fredette's 32 points as #2 Florida ousted #3 BYU 83-74 in overtime.
In the nightcap, a 20-point, 12-rebound night from Matt Howard lifted #8 Butler to a 61-54 win over #4 Wisconsin. The Bulldogs will play Florida on Saturday for the trip to Houston and the Final Four.

NCAA Southeast: Pittsburgh, Florida, Butler, UCLA, Wisconsin, K-State, Zags, BYU Advance
The NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament began Southeast Region play with eight games on Thursday.
At Washington, DC:
Matt Howard, who scored 15 points, connected on the game-winning basket at the buzzer as eight-seeded Butler, last year's runners-up, nipped ninth-seeded Old Dominion 60-58 in the first of two Southeast Region contests played at the Verizon Center.
Ashton Gibbs scored 20 of his 26 points in the second half as top-seeded Pittsburgh wore down 16th-seeded North Carolina Asheville 71-54 in the second contest.
At Tampa:
In the first of two Southeast Region games played at the St. Petersburg Times Forum, a 10 point, 10 assist, 7 rebound night for Chandler Parsons, to go with Erving Walker's 18 points, helped #2 Florida dominate #15 UC-Santa Barbara 79-51.
In the nightcap, #7 UCLA blew a 23-point lead, but managed to hold off #10 Michigan State 78-76. Tyler Honeycutt and Malcolm Lee each scored 16 points for the Bruins, offsetting Draymond Green's triple-double (23 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists) for the Spartans.
At Tucson, Arizona:
Jon Leuer scored 17 of his 22 points following the intermission as #4 Wisconsin had their way with #13 Wofford 72-58. Jordan Taylor added 21 for the Badgers in the first of two Southeast Region contests at Tucson.
In the nightcap, #12 Utah State took on #5 Kansas State and lost 73-68 as Jacob Pullen tallied 22 points for the victorious Wildcats.
At Denver:
In the opening Southeast Region game from the Pepsi Center, Jimmer Fredette scored 32 points as #3 BYU held off #14 Wofford, 74-66.
In the nightcap, #11 Gonzaga knocked off #6 St. John's 86-71 as the Bulldogs' Marquise Carter scored a career-high 24 points.
