Sydney Swans Knock Off Highly-Regarded Hawthorn For Aussie Rules Title

At Melbourne, Australia:

The Sydney Swans upset the Hawthorn Hawks by 91 points (14 goals and 7 behinds) to 81 (11 and 15) on Saturday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground to win the Australian Football League Premiership Grand Final.  It was the Swans' second Grand Final crown (2005) since relocating from South Melbourne in 1982. Kieren Jack, Josh Kennedy, Nick Malceski, Jarrad MeVeigh, and Mitch Morgan each scored two goals (six points apiece) for Sydney, while Lance Franklin scored three goals to pace Hawthorn.  Here are the Happy Swans with the AFL Premiership trophy.

AFL PREMIERSHIP: CATS BREAK OPEN TIGHT GAME WITH MAGPIES TO CLAIM CROWN

At Melbourne, Australia:

The Geelong Cats scored five goals (six points apiece) compared to the Collingwood Magpies' none in the fourth quarter as they won the Australian Football League's title match by a score of 119 (18 goals and 11 behinds, the latter worth a point apiece) to 81 (12 goals and 9 behinds) on Saturday for their third title in five years.

Geelong Cats: Kings Of The Aussie Rules Mountain

At Melbourne, Australia:

The Geelong Cats defeated the St. Kilda Saints 12.8 (80 points) to 9.14 (68 points) to capture their second Australian Football League premiership in the last three years on Saturday.

In Australian Rules Football, a goal is worth six points, while a behind is worth one point. Geelong scored 12 goals and 8 behinds while St. Kilda scored 9 goals and 14 behinds.
