Vikings Fall To Wildcats In OT

At Portland, Oregon:

Five players----Gelaun Wheelwright and Jordan Richardson with 14 points apiece; Scott Bamforth, 13; and Kyle Tresnak and Davion Berry with 12 each----scored in double figures on Saturday as the Weber State Wildcats (6-3 overall, 2-0 in Big Sky play) defeated the home-standing Portland State Vikings 73-69 (3-6, 1-1) in overtime.

Lateef McMullan scored 20 points as the Portland State Vikings (3-5 overall, 1-0 in Big Sky play) opened Big Sky Conference play on Thursday night with a 63-49 home win over the Idaho State Bengals (1-8, 0-1).

Viking Gain Hard-Fought Home Win

At Portland, Oregon:


Charles Odum scored 22 points, two of them on the go-ahead free throws with three seconds remaining on Tuesday night as the Portland State Vikings (16-14 overall, 10-6 in Big Sky play) defeated the visiting Northern Colorado Bears (9-19, 5-11) 75-74 in the Big Sky Conference regular-season finale for both teams.  The conference tournament begins on Saturday and the third-seeded Vikings will host sixth-seeded Montana State in the first round.

Vikes Top Eagles, Will Host First-Round Big Sky Tourney Game

At Portland, Oregon:


Chehales Tapscott scored 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Portland State Vikings (15-13 overall, 9-6 in Big Sky play) defeated the visiting Eastern Washington Eagles (13-16, 7-8) 69-64 on Saturday to clinch the number three seed and the right to host an opening-round game in the forthcoming Big Sky Conference tournament.

Charles In Charge: Vikings Top Hornets In Sacramento

At Sacramento, California:



Charles Odum scored 38 points as he hit 11 of 16 shots from the field (including five of eight three-pointers) while Renado Parker added 19 as the Portland State Vikings (14-13 overall, 8-6 in Big Sky play) defeated the Sacramento State Hornets (9-18, 4-11) 94-88 on the road in Thursday.

Balanced Scoring Makes Things Rather Easy For Vikings

At Portland, Oregon:

Chehales Tapscott scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Portland State Vikings (13-12 overall, 7-6 in Big Sky play) built up a 27-point halftime lead and coasted to a 85-67 home win over the Sacramento State Hornets (9-16, 4-10) on Wednesday night.  Charles Odum added 16 points for the Vikings.

Charles Odum scored 18 points while Chehales Tapscott added 15 (to go with his 16 rebounds), Renaldo Parker 11, and Nate Lozeau 10, as the Portland State Vikings (12-12 overall, 6-6 in Big Sky play) defeated the home-standing Idaho State Bengals (8-16, 6-6) 67-54 on Thursday.

The nation's leading scorer, Damian Lillard, scored 40 points on Thursday night as the Weber State Wildcats (17-4 overall, 9-1 in Big Sky play) rebounded from their first conference defeat of the season with a 92-79 home win over the Portland State Vikings (10-12, 4-6), who have now dropped three in a row.

Will Cherry scored 20 points and Mathias Ward added 18 while Kareem Jamar contributed 11 as the Montana Grizzlies (15-6 overall, 8-1 in Big Sky play) moved into a tie for first place atop the Big Sky Conference standings following their 69-67 Sunday road win over the Portland State Vikings (10-11, 4-5), the Grizzlies 10th win in their last 11 starts.

Shawn Reid (who connected on the go-ahead three-point basket with 28 seconds remaining) and Xavier Blount each scored 15 points as the Montana State Bobcats (11-8 overall, 6-2 in Big Sky play) overcame a 15-point mid-second half deficit on Thursday and defeated the Portland State Vikings (10-10, 4-4) 70-65 on the road, outscoring the Vikings 27-7 in the process.

At Cheney, Washington:


Charles Odum, who scored 20 points in the game, connected on a contested jumper with two seconds remaining in overtime to carry Portland State (10-9 overall, 4-3 in Big Sky play) to a 78-76 road win over Eastern Washington (9-11, 3-4) on Saturday.  Chehalis Tapscott added 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the visiting Vikings. Collin Chiverton scored 22 points and Tremayne Johnson added 20 for the Eagles.

Charles Odum Not Enough: Vikings Drop Conference Opener To Round Out Rough Night For Portland Schools

At Missoula, Montana:


Kareem Jamar scored 17 points while Art Steward and Will Cherry each added 15 as the Montana Grizzlies (8-5 overall, 1-0 in Big Sky action) won their third straight game overall, 75-64 at home over the Portland State Vikings (6-7, 0-1) on Wednesday in the Big Sky Conference league opener for both schools.  Despite 27 points from Charles Odum (hitting eight of thirteen shots), the Vikings have dropped their third straight game.
