Ducks Turn Buffaloes Into Hamburger

At Eugene, Oregon:

De'Anthony Thomas scored two touchdowns, one on a 9-yard run, the other on a punt return of 73 yards, while quarterback Marcus Mariota threw for two TDs and ran for another and backup QB Brian Bennett ran for three scores as the Oregon Ducks (ranked #4 in the BCS rankings, #2 in both the AP and USA Today/Coaches polls; 8-0 overall, 5-0 in Pac-10 play) scored 56 points in the first half en route to a 70-14 Saturday home demolition of Colorado (1-7, 1-4).

The 70 points were the most the Ducks ever scored in a conference game.

Beavers Coast To Home Win Over Buffaloes And Clinch Second Winning Season In 22 Years (And Lock Up Pac-12 Tourney First-Round Bye For Ducks)

At Corvallis, Oregon:


Ahmad Starks scored 18 points, all of them in the second half, while Robert Nelson added 16 and Jared Cunningham 15 as the Oregon State Beavers (17-13 overall, 7-11 in Pac-12 play) defeated the visiting Colorado Buffaloes (19-11, 11-7) 83-69 to clinch only their second winning season in 22 years and lock up a Pacific-12 tournament first-round bye for arch-rival Oregon.  The Beavers will be seeded eighth or ninth in the tournament that starts this coming Wednesday.

Ducks Top Buffs To Close In On First-Round Conference Tourney Bye

At Eugene, Oregon:


Devoe Joseph scored 24 points and Garrett Sim added 19 as the Oregon Ducks (21-8 overall, 12-5 in Pac-12 play) found themselves tied for third in the Pacific-12 conference standings following their 90-81 home win over the Colorado Buffaloes (19-10, 11-6).  The Ducks close out their regular season at home this weekend against Utah.

Buffaloes Win Tough One In Final Second Over Ducks

At Boulder, Colorado:


After being fouled by E. J. Singler, Nate Tomlinson converted his first of two free throws with one second remaining and intentionally missed the second one as the Colorado Buffaloes (16-7 overall, 8-3 in Pac-12 play) nipped the visiting Oregon Ducks (16-7, 7-4) 72-71 on Saturday night.  Askia Booker scored 17 points and Spencer Dinwiddie added 16 to pace the Buffaloes, who are still perfect at home (7-0) in league play.

Colorado Buffaloes Oregon State, Ending Beavers' Winning Streak

At Boulder, Colorado:


Andre Roberson scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as the Colorado Buffaloes (15-7 overall, 7-3 in Pac-12 play) manhandled the visiting Oregon State Beavers (14-8, 4-6) 82-60 on Thursday, ending the Beavers' three-game winning streak.

Ducks Turn Buffaloes Into Hamburger

At Boulder, Colorado:


Kenjon Barner, who ran for 115 yards, ran for two touchdowns (4, 84 yards) as the Oregon Ducks (#10 in the BCS rankings; 6-1 overall, 4-0 in Pac-12 play) scored four touchdowns in the first quarter as the visitors dismantled Colorado (1-6, 0-4) 45-2 on Saturday to clinch bowl eligibility.

The First Domino Falls

Ahead of what is expected to be Nebraska's defection to the Big Ten Conference, Colorado officially accepted their invitation Thursday to join the Pacific Ten Conference, becoming that outfit's first new member since Arizona and Arizona State came over from the Western Athletic Conference in 1978.  We may right now be seeing the dismemberment of the Big 12 Conference before our very eyes.
