In a game delayed twice by power outages at Candlestick Park (20 minutes for the start of the game and 16 minutes in the second quarter) the San Francisco 49ers (11-3) , with Alex Smith throwing a touchdown pass to Vernon Davis (one-yard, third quarter) and Frank Gore running five yards for a fourth-quarter score, defeated the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers (10-4) 20-3 on Monday Night. The Niners intercepted Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger three times.

PACKERS HOLD OFF STEELERS TO GRAB SUPER BOWL CROWN
At Arlington, Texas:
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers (named the game's Most Valuable Player) threw for three touchdowns, two to Greg Jennings and one more to Jordy Nelson, while defensive back Nick Collins returned a Ben Roethlisberger pass for another score as the Green Bay Packers held off the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25 Sunday night to win Super Bowl XLV. The win marked the Packers fourth Super Bowl title (their first in 14 years) and their thirteenth National Football League championship overall, a league record. 21 of the Packers' points came off three Pittsburgh turnovers, two Ben Roethlisberger picks and a fumble by running back Rashard Mendenhall.

Packers and Steelers Win Their Way To Super Bowl XLV
The two entrants in next month's Super Bowl became known on Sunday.
At Chicago:
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers ran for a touchdown and made a saving tackle on an interception return, defensive lineman B. J. Raji intercepted a pass 18 yards for what turned out to be the game-winning score, and defensive back Sam Shields came up with two interceptions of his own as the Green Bay Packers held off the Chicago Bears 21-14 to win the National Football Conference championship. The Packers will be playing in their fifth Super Bowl (their first in thirteen years). Green Bay had won on three of their four previous tries.
At Pittsburgh:
The Pittsburgh Steelers scored two touchdowns in a span of 47 seconds in the second quarter (a Ben Roethlisberger 2-yard run for a score followed by a 19-yard fumble recovery for a score by William Gay) and then held on for a 24-19 win over the New York Jets in the American Football Conference title game. The Steelers will be playing in their eighth Super Bowl (tying the record set by the Dallas Cowboys) and have won an NFL record six Super Bowl titles in their previous seven attempts.
Super Bowl XLV will take place on Sunday, February 6 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 PM Pacific Standard Time. The contest will be carried on the Fox Television Network.
