Time For A Visit With Molly!

From the Van Beuren Corporation in 1935 (and originally distributed by RKO Radio Pictures), we present "Molly Moo-Cow and the Butterflies," part of the studio's Rainbow Parade series.  In this one, Molly befriends some butterflies and rescues them of a zany butterfly collector.  With music by Winston Sharples, this cartoon was directed by Burt Gillett and Tom Palmer.

Let's Go To Egypt and Get Gypped!

From 1930, in living black and white, it's Waffles the Cat and Don the Dog starring in "Gypped In Egypt," an Aesop's Sound Fables cartoon produced in New York City by the Van Beuren Corporation and distributed by Pathe (whose US operations would soon be taken over by RKO).  In this one, the boys travel to Egypt and get into one big problem after another. 





This cartoon, with music by Gene Rodemich, was directed by John Foster and Mannie Davis, both of whom would later be reunited with their old boss Paul Terry at Terrytoons.

Time For Tom and Jerry---------------The Van Beuren Tom and Jerry, That Is!

From 1932, here are Tom and Jerry starring in "Plane Dumb."  In this one, the boys travel to Africa with disastrous results.  This cartoon, produced by Amadee J. Van Beuren and released by RKO Radio Pictures, was made in New York City.  With music by Gene Rodemich, this piece of animation was directed by John Foster and George Rufle.

 

Yes, folks, Tom was the tall one. 

They Just Don't Make Cartoons Like This One Anymore

From 1930, here's an Aesop's Fables cartoon entitled "Laundry Blues," co-directed by John Foster and Manny Davis with music by Gene Rodemich.







It was produced in New York City by the Van Beuren Corporation and distributed by Pathe, whose US operations would within one or two years be taken over by RKO Radio Pictures.

Time For Another Christmas Cartoon

From 1933:

Otto Soglow's comic strip character, The Little King, starring in "Pals," produced by the Van Beuren cartoon studio in New York City and released theatrically by RKO Radio Pictures.



This cartoon was circulated for many years as "Christmas Night," via an Official Films release for home use and it was good to see the original titles for a change. Animation on this film was done by New York animation legend Jim Tyer.
