Keep In Mind There Was No Commercial TV In 1938

Here's a commercial that was shown in motion picture theaters during 1938 for Esso (forerunner in this country to Exxon) Gasoline.  Check out the final few seconds.  That may have scared the bejesus out of some moviegoers back then.

Big Dropoff In Polls For Ducks

Following their error-plagued Saturday setback at the hands of Louisiana State, the Oregon Ducks dropped down to #13 in the Associated Press (media) poll and #14 in the USA Today/Coaches poll.

Riders End Four-Game Losing Streak By Knocking Off Bombers

At Regina, Saskatchewan:


In Ken Miller's first game back as their head coach (he replaced the fired Greg Marshall), the Saskatchewan Roughriders (2-7) defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (7-2) 27-7 at home on Sunday in Canadian Football League action.  Coach Miller had guided the 'Riders to the last two Grey Cup finals.  Saskatchewan ended its' four-game losing streak by ending the Bombers' five-match winning run.  Quarterback Darian Durant threw for three touchdowns, two of them to Chris Getzlaf.
