Ducks Climb Up A Spot In BCS

In the aftermath of their Civil War thrashing of Oregon State, the Oregon Ducks moved up one spot in the latest Bowl Championship Series rankings to #9.  They also moved up a spot, to #8 in the Associated Press media poll, while moving up two places to #7 in the USA Today/Coaches rankings.


As for the Beavers, they dropped down slightly to a tie for 87th place with Washington State.

Charles Odum Leads Vikes To Another Win

At Laramie, Wyoming:


Charles Odum scored 25 points on Sunday as the Portland State Vikings (4-2) defeated the Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks (1-7) 79-69 in the Jim Thorpe Classic.

99TH GREY CUP: BRITISH COLUMBIA LIONS WIN TITLE

At Vancouver, British Columbia:


Quarterback Travis Lulay, named the game's Most Valuable Player,  completed 21 passes for 320 yards as the British Columbia Lions won the 99th edition of the Grey Cup Final 34-23 over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Sunday.


It was the Lions' sixth Grey Cup championship.

Darius Miller And Friends Too Much For Pilots

At Lexington, Kentucky:


Darius Miller and Terrence Jones each scored 19 points while Anthony Davis added 13, while pulling 12 rebounds and coming up with four blocked shots as the #2-ranked (AP) Kentucky Wildcats (6-0) overpowered the visiting Portland Pilots(2-4) 87-63 on Saturday.

Vikings Dump La Tech

At Laramie, Wyoming:


Charles Odum scored a career-high 27 points as the Portland State Vikings (3-2) overpowered the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (2-2) 66-48 on Saturday in the round-robin Jim Thorpe Classic.

Road Win for Beavers

At Towson, Maryland:


The Oregon State Beavers (5-1) defeated the winless Towson Tigers (0-5) on the road 66-46 on Saturday. Devon Collier scored 13 points to pace the Beavers.  Jared Cunningham, Joe Burton, and Roberto Nelson each added 12 for the visitors.

Quarterback Darron Thomas threw for 305 yards and four touchdowns as the Oregon Ducks (10-2 overall, 8-1 in Pac-12 play) , ranked #10 in the Bowl Championship Series rankings, smothered the visiting Oregon State Beavers (3-9, 3-6) 49-21 on Saturday in the 115th edition of the Civil War Game to win the Pacific-12 Conference's Northern Division title and a home encounter with UCLA in next Friday night's conference championship game with the winner heading for the Rose Bowl.
