Liberty Bowl: Bearcats Hold Off Vandy

Isaiah Pead ran for 149 yards and a touchdown while Ralph David Abernathy IV's 90-yard kickoff return early in the fourth quarter proved decisive as the Cincinnati Bearcats (10-3) held off a game challenge from the Vanderbilt Commodores (6-7) 31-24 in Saturday's Liberty Bowl contest.

Vandy Hands Beavers First Defeat In TicketCity Legends Classic Final

Brad Tinsley hit the game-winning shot with 4.5 seconds remaining while John Jenkins, named tournament Most Valuable Player, scored 14 points as the #18 ranked (AP) Vanderbilt Commodores defeated the previously-unbeaten Oregon State Beavers 64-62 in Monday's final of the TicketCity Legends Classic. The Beavers' Jared Cunningham, who scored 72 points in his two most recent previous games, was held to nine points. Both teams are now 4-1 on the year.

John Jenkins scored 24 points while Jeffery Taylor added 21 as the Vanderbilt Commodores (ranked #7 in the Associated Press media poll; 1-0) defeated the visiting Oregon Ducks (0-1) 78-64 on Friday in the men's college basketball season opener for both schools.
