Beavers Bottle Up Cougs' Offense, Stay Unbeaten

At Corvallis, Oregon:

Cornerback Jordan Poyer intercepted three passes on Saturday and Markus Wheaton caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Sean Mannion as the Oregon State Beavers (ranked #14 in the Associated Press media poll and #18 in the USA Today/coaches poll; 4-0 overall, 3-0 in Pac-12 play) defeated the visiting Washington State Cougars (2-4, 0-3) 19-6.

Ducks Break Open Tight Contest, Beat Cougars Going Away In Seattle

At Seattle:

Running back Kenjon Barner carried the ball 20 times for 195 yards and three touchdowns and caught a pass for 30 yards and another score as the #2-ranked Oregon Ducks (both in the AP and USA Today/Coaches polls; 4-0 overall, 2-0 in Pac-12 play) broke open what was four-point game at halftime with a dominating second half (28 unanswered points) to down the Washington State Cougars (2-3, 0-2) 51-26 on the road on Saturday night.

CBI: Panthers Claw Past Cougs, Square Series At One Game Apiece

At Pittsburgh:


Talib Zanna scored 14 points while Nasir Robinson and Lamar Patterson each added 10 as The Pittsburgh Panthers (21-17)  squared their best-of-three College Basketball Invitational championship series at a game apiece with their 57-53 Wednesday night home win in game two against the Washington State Cougars (19-17). The title will be decided in Pittsburgh on Friday.

CBI: Cougars Nudge Panthers In Series Opener

At Pullman, Washington:

The Washington State Cougars (19-16) shot 51% from the field (and 9 of 15 from three-point range) as they edged the visiting Pittsburgh Panthers (20-17) 67-66 on Monday night in the opening game of the best-of-three final of the College Basketball Invitational.  Abe Lodwick scored 16 points to pace the Cougars while Reggie Moore added 14 and DaVonte Lacy added 10.  The Cougars can lock up the CBI title with a win at Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

CBI: Cougs End Beavers Season; Advance To Finals

At Corvallis, Oregon:


Reggie Moore scored 23 points as the Washington State Cougars (18-16) knocked off the Oregon State Beavers (21-15) 72-55 on Wednesday night in the semifinal round of the College Basketball Invitational.  The Cougars will face Pittsburgh in the best-of-three final series.

E. J. Singler scored 23 points and Devoe Joseph and Garrett Sim each added 16 as the Oregon Ducks (18-7 overall, 9-4 in Pac-12 play) made a season-high eleven three-point shots in their 78-69 Saturday home win over the Washington State Cougars (13-12, 5-8).

Brock Motum scored 26 points and DaVonte Lacy added 18 as the Washington State Cougars (9-5 overall, 1-1 in Pac-12 play) defeated the visiting Oregon State Beavers (10-4, 0-2) on Saturday despite 21 points from the Beavers' Jared Cunningham.

Hot Shooting Ducks Too Much For Cougs In Pac-12 Opener

At Pullman, Washington:


Olu Ashaolu scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Devoe Joseph added 17 points to guide the Oregon Ducks (10-3 overall, 1-0 in Pac-12 play) to a 92-75 road win over the Washington State Cougars (8-5, 0-1) on Thursday night in both schools' Pacific-12 Conference opener.  The Ducks, in winning their fourth straight game, shot 69% from the field as the Cougars' six-game winning run ended.

De'Anthony Thomas scored two touchdowns (one on a 45-yard pass from quarterback Bryan Bennett, the other on a 93-yard kickoff return) while Lavasier Tuinei caught a pair of touchdown passes himself as the Oregon Ducks (ranked #7 in the BCS rankings; 7-1 overall, 5-0 in Pac-12 play) outlasted visiting Washington State (3-5, 1-4) 43-28 in Saturday action.

Cougs Smother Beavers In Corvallis

At Corvallis, Oregon:

The Washington State Cougars (2-9, 1-7) ended a 16-game conference losing streak on Saturday with a 31-14 win on the road over the Oregon State Beavers (4-5, 3-3) . Quarterback Jeff Tuel passed for 157 yards and ran for 79 more to lead the Cougars as the sagging Beavers suffered their third setback in their last four games and have placed their postseason chances in jeopardy with games coming up against USC, Stanford, and Oregon.

Ducks Shake Off Cougs To Ring Up Another Win

LaMichael James scored three touchdowns, one on an 84-yard reception, as the #2 (AP) Oregon Ducks (6-0, 3-0) shook off the Washington State Cougars (1-5, 0-3) 43-23 on the road on Saturday.  Whether this was enough to lift the Ducks to second place in the upcoming media poll remains to be seen.

With Sean Canfield throwing for 231 yards and two touchdowns, and Jacquizz Rodgers running for two more (10, 39 yards), Oregon State (8-3 overall, 6-2 in Pacific 10 Conference play; #19 in the BCS Rankings) blasted feckless Washington State (1-10, 0-8) 42-10 on the road Saturday to stay in contention for the Pac-10 title and a berth in a BCS bowl.

Quarterback Jeremiah Masoli threw for 116 yards and a touchdown, and ran for another before sitting out the second half as the #16 (AP)/#25 (USAT/C) Oregon Ducks (4-1 overall, 2-0 in Pac-10 play) made roadkill out of the Washington State Cougars (1-4, 0-3) 52-6 in Pacific-10 Conference action on Saturday.
