Quarterback Andrew Luck, in what may have been his final game in a Cardinal uniform, threw for four touchdowns on Monday night as Stanford (12-1) won their first bowl since 1996 as they dominated the second half and manhandled Virginia Tech (11-3) 40-12 in the Discover Orange Bowl. The Cardinal are almost certain to finish ranked in the top five for the first time since 1940.

Alex Smith threw a 59-yard touchdown pass to Vernon Davis in the third quarter as the San Francisco 49ers (6-10), in what was likely Jim Tomsula's one game as interim head coach, buried the visiting Arizona Cardinals (5-11) 38-7 in the season finale for both teams on Sunday.
The field for the playoffs is now set.
NATIONAL FOOTBALL CONFERENCE:
The top two seeds will have next weekend off and will host divisional playoff games the weekend of January 15 and 16.
