Veteran television writer and playwright Sol Saks, who wrote the pilot for the Bewitched television series, passed away this past Saturday from respiratory failure, stemming from pneumonia at Sherman Oaks (California) Hospital at the age of 100.
Although he wrote the pilot, Mr. Saks never wrote another episode of the popular sitcom that aired for eight years on ABC, from 1964-72.
Bewitched starred Elizabeth Montgomery as a witch, married to a mortal (played first by Dick York, then Dick Sargent).
