Stanley Cup Playoffs: OT Win Puts Caps Up 3-1; Penguins Up 3-1 Too; Wings Finish Sweep Of Coyotes; Ducks-Predators and Flyers-Sabres Series Deadlocked At 2-2

Five games were played on Wednesday as the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs continued.


Eastern Conference:


At New York:


Marcus Johansson scored twice in the third period and  Jason Chimera scored the game winner at 12:36 of the second overtime period as the Washington Capitals came back from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the New York Rangers 4-3 in game three of their conference quarterfinal series to take a three-games-to-one lead.


At Buffalo, New York:


Jason Pominville scored the only goal of the game in the first period while Ryan Miller stopped all 32 shots in posting his second shutout of the series as the Buffalo Sabres blanked the visiting Philadelphia Flyers 1-0 to even their first-round series at two games apiece.


At Tampa, Florida:


James Neal scored the winning goal at 3:38 of the second overtime period as the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 on the road to lead their first-round series three games to one.


Western Conference:


At Nashville, Tennessee:


Cam Fowler, Teemu Selanne, and Corey Perry each scored a power play goal as the Anaheim Ducks squared their series with the Nashville Predators at two games apiece following their 6-3 road triumph.


At Glendale, Arizona:


Patrick Eaves scored twice (once on an empty netter) as the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Phoenix Coyotes 6-3 to complete a four-game sweep of their first-round series.  The game may have been the Coyotes' final contest in Arizona.
