NCAA East: Mountaineers Bounce Back To Overcome Tired Tigers; Kentucky Escapes With Close Win Over Princeton

Two games were contested Thursday in East Region action in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.

At Tampa, Florida:

In the opening contest at the Saint Petersburg Times Forum, West Virginia's fresh legs proved too much for Clemson as the fifth-seeded Mountaineers overcame the worn-out twelfth-seeded Tigers 84-76.  Darryl Bryant scored 19 while Kevin Jones added 17 (as well as 9 rebounds) for the Big East Conference school.

In the second game, freshman Brandon Knight, held without a point for more than 39 minutes, made a diving layup with 2 seconds remaining to carry fourth-seeded Kentucky to a 59-57 victory over eleventh-seeded Princeton.  Darius Miller scored 17 points while Josh Harrellson added 15 to go with his 10 rebounds for the Wildcats.
