NCAA Midwest: Tar Heels, Jayhawks Survive Tough Tests To Set Up Sunday Showdown For Trip To New Orleans

The semifinal round of the Midwest Regional of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament took place with two games contested at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis on Friday.


In the opener, Tyler Zeller scored 20 points and grabbed 23 rebounds while Harrison Barnes scored five of his twelve points in the tournament's first overtime period as the top-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels (32-5), sans the injured Kendall Marshall,  survived the thirteenth-seeded Ohio Bobcats (29-8) 73-65 despite 26 points from the Bobcats' Walter Offutt.


In the nightcap, Thomas Robinson scored 18 points and pulled in 15 rebounds as the second-seeded Kansas Jayhawks (30-6) held off the eleventh-seeded North Carolina State Wolfpack (24-13) 60-57 to get a shot at North Carolina on Sunday for a trip to New Orleans and the Final Four.
