Backup quarterback Troy Smith ran for a touchdown and threw 28 yards to Michael Crabtree for another as the San Francisco 49ers (2-6) defeated the Denver Broncos (2-6) 24-16 Sunday in a National Football League contest played at Wembley Stadium (it was designated as a 49ers home game).
