Historic Film

I thought that for once, I decided to add some culture to these proceedings.  Here are the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, under conductor Henry Hadley, performing the overture from Richard Wagner's "Tannhauser," filmed on July 22, 1926 at the Metropolitan Opera.  It was premiered on August 6 of that year, along with other sound films.  That date marked the first public presentation of the Vitaphone process, roughly one year before "The Jazz Singer."
