Stanley Cup Playoffs: Penguins Blank Habs To Take 2-1 Lead; Sharks Come Back To Bite Wings To Take 3-0 Advantage

Two games were played as the Stanley Cup Playoffs continued on Tuesday.

EASTERN CONFERENCE:

At Montreal:

Evgeni Malkin scored a power-play goal at 1:16 of the third period and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped all 18 shots as the Pittsburgh Penguins blanked the Montreal Canadiens 2-0 on the road in game three of their conference semifinal series to take a two-games-to-one lead and reclaim home-ice advantage.

WESTERN CONFERENCE:

At Detroit:

Patrick Marleau scored at 7:07 of overtime as the San Jose Sharks overcame a two-goal third-period deficit and defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 on the road in game three to take a commanding three-games-to-none advantage in their best-of-seven series.  Only twice in NHL history has a team come back from a three-games-to-none deficit and win a best-of-seven series (the Toronto Maple Leafs did this to Detroit in the 1942 final and the New York Islanders did likewise to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the quarterfinal round in 1975).
