Stanley Cup Playoffs: Blackhawks Edge Sharks and Flyers Demolish Habs To Take Conference Final Openers

The Stanley Cup Playoffs resumed with two games on Sunday.

WESTERN CONFERENCE:

At San Jose, California:

Dustin Byfuglien scored the game-winning goal with 6:45 remaining in the third period and Antti Niemi stopped 44 of 45 shots as the Chicago Blackhawks edged the San Jose Sharks 2-1 on the road in game one of the Western Conference final.

EASTERN CONFERENCE:

At Philadelphia:

James van Riemsdyk, Danny Briere, and Simon Gagne all scored during a span of 9:23 in the second period and Michael Leighton stopped all 28 shots as the Philadelphia Flyers demolished the visiting Montreal Canadiens 6-0 in the opening game of the Eastern Conference final.
