NCAA Southwest: Jayhawks Step On Spiders To Be Last Remaining Top Seed In Tournament; VCU Takes Out 'Noles In OT

The semifinal round of the Southwest Region in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament took place with two games at the Alamodome in San Antonio on Friday.


In the opening contest, Brady Morningstar scored 18 points as #1 Kansas dominated #12 Richmond 77-57.  With Ohio State's defeat later Friday, the Jayhawks became the lone top-seeded team to reach the Elite Eight.


In the nightcap, Bradford Burgess, who scored 26 points, scored the game-winning bucket on his layup with 7.1 seconds remaining in overtime as #11 Virginia Commonwealth edged out #10 Florida State 72-71.  The Rams have advanced to their first-ever Elite Eight.  They will get their shot at Kansas on Sunday.
