Niners Erase 20-Point Deficit To Upend Eagles In Philly

Quarterback Alex Smith threw for 291 yards and two touchdowns (30 yards to Josh Morgan and 9 yards to Vernon Davis, both in the third quarter) and Frank Gore, who ran for 127 yards, collected 12 of them on the game winning score with three minutes remaining as the San Francisco 49ers (3-1) overcame a 20-point third-quarter deficit and defeated the Philadelphia Eagles (1-3) 24-23 on the road in Sunday National Football League action as the Niners remained in sole possession of first place in the NFC West Division.
