Harry Wendelstedt, Long-Time MLB Umpire, R. I. P.

Longtime Major League Baseball umpire Harry Wendelstedt, who worked in five World Series during a 33-year career, passed away on Friday at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center at Daytona Beach, near the umpiring school he had run for more than three decades, at age 73.

Mr. Wendelstedt had been diagnosed with a brain tumor a number of years ago.

Harry also called seven National League Championship Series and four All-Star Games and was behind the plate for five no-hitters.
