NCAA South: Kentucky, Indiana, Baylor Advance To Sweet Sixteen; No Return To Final Four For VCU

Three games were played on Saturday as play in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's South Region continued.


At Louisville, Kentucky:


At the KFC Yum! Center, Marquis Teague scored a career-high 24 points as the top-seeded Kentucky Wildcats (34-2) used a 20-2 run to finish off eight-seeded Iowa State (23-11) 87-71.


At Portland, Oregon:


At the Rose Garden, Will Sheehey made a fifteen-foot shot from the baseline with 12.7 seconds remaining as fourth-seeded Indiana (27-8) nosed out twelfth-seeded Virginia Commonwealth (29-7) 63-61.  Christian Watford and Cody Zeller (to go with his 13 rebounds) each scored 16 points for the Hoosiers, who reach the Sweet Sixteen for the first time in ten years.  Indiana will next face Kentucky at Atlanta.


At Albuquerque, New Mexico:


At The Pit, Brady Heslip scored 27 points (making 9 of 12 three-point shots) as third-seeded Baylor (29-7) defeated #11-seeded Colorado (24-12) 80-63.
