ALCS: Yankees Lose Derek Jeter For Rest Of Playoffs With Fractured Ankle, Lose To Tigers In 12 Innings In Series Opener

At New York:

Despite ninth-inning heroics from Ichiro Suzuki and Raul Ibanez (each hitting a ninth-inning two-run homer to erase a four-run deficit and force extra innings), the Detroit Tigers, with Delmon Young doubling in the go-ahead run in the 12th inning, defeated the New York Yankees 6-4 on the road in the opening game of the American League Championship series on Saturday.  It was during that twelfth inning that Yankees captain and shortstop Derek Jeter suffered a fractured left ankle while attempting to make a play.  He will miss the rest of the playoffs.
