Cardinals Take Advantage Of Shoddy Braves Defense And Blown Call In 8th Inning To Advance To NLDS

At Atlanta:

On the opening day of the Major League Baseball playoffs, Matt Holliday hit a home run as the St. Louis Cardinals took advantage of three Atlanta errors and a controversial call on an infield fly ball in the eighth inning (which led to fans dumping trash on the baseball field, leading to a 19-minute delay) as they defeated the Braves 6-3 on the road in the National League's inaugural Wild-Card playoff game on Friday.

The Cardinals will take on the Washington Nationals in a divisional playoff series, best-of-five, starting on Sunday in St. Louis.
