ALDS: Orioles Top Yanks In 13 Innings To Force Game Five; Justin Verlander Blanks A's As Tigers Advance To ALCS

Both American League divisional playoff series continued on Thursday.

At New York:

J. J. Hardy delivered a go-ahead double in the 13th inning, scoring Manny Machedo from third base as the Baltimore Orioles leveled their divisional playoff series with the New York Yankees at two games apiece following their 2-1 13-inning road victory, forcing the fifth and deciding game to be played at Yankee Stadium on Friday with the winner advancing to the American League Championship Series.

At Oakland:

Justin Verlander pitched a complete-game, four-hit, eleven-strikeout shutout as the Detroit Tigers broke the game open with four runs in their half of the seventh inning as they blanked the Oakland Athletics 6-0 on the road in game five to win their divisional playoff series three games to two.  The Tigers face the Baltimore-New York winner in the American League Championship Series.
